About our villa

Villa Gembira is a charming and cozy, traditional Balinese 2-bedroom home, nestled in a rural area in the happening South of Bali island, just a short drive from central Seminyak and even closer to the more quiet beach of Batu Belig. Villa Gembira features a tropical open-plan living room that overlooks the villa's tranquil koi-fish ponds. In the back of the property sparkles a private crystal clear swimming pool, accompanied by a large alang-alang roofed balé where you can enjoy drinks together or laze the day away with a good book while a refreshing dive in the water of the pool is just a few just steps away. The perfect peaceful little oasis you need to unwind completely with your loved ones. Larger traveling groups, have the option of renting villa Gembira together with its neighbor Villa Senang, turning it into Villa Sembira, a 6 bedroom holiday haven.

A teak wooden gate leads into the lush green garden of villa Gembira, surrounding the traditional open-concept living pavilion. At the entrance there is a grassy lawn where kids can play and a walk along the peaceful pond with colorful koi fish leads, past the living room, to the main garden where an inviting private swimming pool glisters. The ambiance here is so peaceful and tropical, that you will fall in love with this charming holiday home instantly. Around the pool there are two sunbeds, shaded by a ceremonial Balinese parasol and there is also a large family-size gazebo to sit and enjoy drinks together in the ambiance of your own peaceful oasis.

The combined living and dining room is elegantly designed with a high soaring roof, traditional hand-carved furniture and tribal artwork. In the front there is a built-in white sofa to lounge on, tucked with blue pillows. In-villa meals can be enjoyed at the beautifully designed dining table with glass-topping on a natural stone structure and a fully equipped kitchen, that features a Nespresso machine for a delicious cup of coffee in the morning, is found in the back on the living room.

The two bedrooms of villa Gembira flank the sides of the living pavilion. Ornamented doors lead from the veranda into the restful master suite that boasts a stunning king-size bed draped by a white mosquito net. Before sleep you can watch a movie on the large flat-screen TV with DVD-player in the comfy intimate setting of your own bedroom, perhaps after a long relaxing bath in the open-air en-suite bathroom, beneath the pergola roof, surrounded by greenery.
The second bedroom features a king-size bed, configurable into twin beds upon request, for maximum flexibility. This room also comes with air-conditioning, a mosquito-net, a flat-screen television and a walk-through dressing-room that leads to the wonderful Balinese garden-like en-suite bathroom. The bathroom features an alfresco rain-shower to rinse off beneath Bali's starry sky.

Villa Gembira is an amazing place to stay. Location is between Seminyak and Canggu, and that's just perfect! A few minute walk from the beach. Bedrooms are a dream. Place is nice and calm, no loud cars driving there. Would want to go back immediately! Watch out, because when you type Villa Gembira in Google Maps, it gives you another location that is not correct. Please use Villa Senang when you use Google Maps, that's the name of the Villa right next to Villa Gembira.

We had a lovely stay at Villa Gembira and the villa provided a real haven for us after long days out. The kids loved the pool which was perfectly situated at the back of the villa with lovely stones leading to the raised Balinese lounge area too. The maids were really friendly and cooked breakfast for us everyday - bacon and egg which the kids really enjoyed. Most of all, we loved the location. Batubelig is situated a little further out of Seminyak but for us it was perfect - quiet, sophisticated with some beautiful restaurants nearby (our favourite being Watercress - a real treat and a short 3 minute walk from the villa) We also loved the french patisserie on the main street in Batubelig who make the best cream puffs! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this villa to anyone, the bedrooms were beautiful with air con and large comfy beds, whilst the outdoor bathrooms were a real treat. The only point to note is that the two bedrooms are quite far apart so if you're travelling with younger kids, they might be a little wary, although the villa is extremely secure and we felt safe at all times. We are looking forward to revisiting Bali in the future and are considering Villa Senang (the larger villa) next door which sleeps 10. Our recent stay has given us lovely memories for life!

A lovely well maintained villa that took our breathe away when we arrived,in a quiet tucked away situation. But with simple and easy access to the beach and local village/town with restaurants, bars shops etc, also a short stroll to the local beach, or short taxi ride to more busy shopping and nightlife. The garden of the villa, was excellent, private and very well maintained, with a superb swimming pool. The staff were extremely helpful, polite and friendly and made the stay a pleasure. We loved it so much that we actually cancelled our flight onwards and spent an extra 2 days here. We could not recommend it more and certainly will return on our next trip to Bali.

Lovely and quiet stay at Villa Gembira. Villa staff were helpful and friendly. The villa is not in a very accessible location but its just a 7min walk away (through some shortcuts!) from some great eating places like Naughty Nuri's and Watercress. I travelled with 2 very young kids and they throughly enjoyed the pool and even loved feeding the fish in the villa's pond. The villa is not new but they take care of the grounds and if anything isn't working they will get right to fixing it. Throughly enjoyed myself and will recommend a stay here for a relaxing getaway.
